Overview

Bringing Data Science into the cockpit to reduce fuel burn and emissions

Aircraft produce vast amounts of flight data which are recorded and stored for safety purposes. This data also provides valuable information with regards to each aircraft’s individual performance that can be used to further improve flight efficiency.

The 20 to 30 minutes of climb-out to initial cruise level represent the flight phase with the highest fuel burn, where optimization can have the strongest impact on saving fuel and reducing CO2 emissions. It is also the most complex phase, with many parameters changing at the same time.

SITA FOR AIRCRAFT has partnered with start-up Safety Line to offer OptiClimb, a unique predictive in-flight guidance solution that optimizes the climb-out thanks to machine learning performance models for each tail which uniquely allow to address the complexity of this phase.

OptiClimb offers systematic savings opportunities to all airlines as a universal solution that works on any jet aircraft type and integrates with any flight planning system and any briefing package solution, whether paper or electronic.

Features and Benefits

Achieve significant fuel savings and carbon emission reductions
OptiClimb is the single most effective flight efficiency solution allowing airlines to significantly reduce their fuel burn and limit carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by optimizing the climb-out phase thanks to machine learning performance models for each tail, accurate 4D weather forecasts, and customized climb speed recommendations issued to pilots for each flight.

Make airline operations more efficient and become more environmentally friendly at the same time!

Universal design
OptiClimb optimizes the climb phase for entire fleets, whatever the aircraft type, flight planning system or briefing package solution, whether paper or electronic.

Easy to use by pilots
Flight crews receive customized climb speed recommendations in their briefing package, which they enter into the FMS during flight preparation to reduce fuel burn and CO2 emissions thanks to a fully optimized climb profile taking into account individual aircraft performance and accurate weather inputs.

Fully compatible
OptiClimb integrates with any flight planning system and any briefing package solution, whether paper or electronic, third party or in-house.

No installation costs
The solution does not require any equipment installation.

No connectivity requirements
Because OptiClimb addresses the first part of the flight, it does not require any connectivity.

Helps minimize carbon footprint
OptiClimb allows airlines to save up to 5 to 6% of climb fuel, significantly contributing to airline fuel savings and reductions in CO2.

Supporting airline sustainability commitments
Implementing the most innovative and effective flight efficiency solutions helps airlines fulfil their sustainability commitments and maintain brand reputation.
