SITAONAIR makes a splash at AIX 2018
SITAONAIR’s inflight connectivity (IFC) experts had a fantastic time at this year’s Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX) in Hamburg, with our latest product innovations, demos and IFC announcements giving the industry plenty to talk about.
The biggest event of its kind in the world, AIX attracts 1,000 buyers from more than 268 global airlines, providing a unique opportunity for the global aviation industry to meet, network and negotiate.
At SITAONAIR’s stand 3C10, we showcased just how our best-in-class solutions deliver the connected passenger experience, with our new and refreshed demo hubs. We also met industry partners and colleagues from around the world, to share our news and industry insights.
AIX also hosted some major SITAONAIR announcements. From our new high-speed broadband inflight connectivity deal with long-standing customer Kuwait Airways, and powering Emirates’ new 1 million IFC sessions-in-a-month record, to our appointment as connected aircraft services consultant by Taqnia Space.

The Passenger Experience Conference, held on Monday 9 April, provided the appetizer for this year’s AIX, and saw SITAONAIR CEO, David Lavorel, take to the stage in a panel discussion exploring how airlines can get close to their passengers by addressing modern #PaxEx requirements with connectivity and data-driven technologies:
Pre-AIX, Mr Lavorel spoke to FINN, a dedicated aviation industry news platform linked to Farnborough air show, to share a connected passenger experience ‘best example’:
SITAONAIR started Day One of AIX in style at the stand with the whole team excited to kick-off the Expo in our SITAONAIR shades!
Opening day witnessed the announcement of Kuwait Airways’ (KUW) partnership with SITAONAIR to activate its next-gen connectivity services – Internet ONAIR and Mobile ONAIR over GX Aviation – on the airline’s new A320/A321 Neo fleet.
KUW’s Tareq Hamadah dropped by the stand to celebrate the deal with SITAONAIR’s Stephan Egli and Franck Michaud:
Meanwhile the SITAONAIR team was kept busy demonstrating SITAONAIR’s #BestInClassPaxEx inflight connectivity solutions and Internet ONAIR demo to AIX attendees. Together the demos showcased both the benefits of IFC for airlines and their passengers, SITAONAIR’s end-to-end cabin solutions over high-speed broadband, and its influential open cabin vision:
A successful opening day closed with a dynamic hospitality reception with drinks and canapes at the SITAONAIR stand:
Day two dawned with Hamburg Messe with our second announcement of the Expo – Emirates had surpassed a staggering one million Wi-Fi sessions in March, powered by SITAONAIR’s connected aircraft expertise:
A busy Day Two of meetings and activity moved onto a prestigious press conference event at the Hotel Atlantic Kempinski – hosted by satellite connectivity providers Taqnia Space, to launch its new UON IFC solutions line, for which SITAONAIR has been appointed connected aircraft service expert and technology supplier:
On the final day of AIX, SITAONAIR CEO David Lavorel could be spied on page four of the show magazine, celebrating the Taqnia announcement:
Building on the momentum generated over the event, the final day saw representatives from All Nippon Airways among those flocking to the SITAONAIR stand for a last chance to demo our latest connected aircraft innovation:
Another great Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg for SITAONAIR, with lots of industry interest. We are already looking forward to next year’s event – but if you can’t wait until then, come and see us at APEX EXPO 2018 in Boston in September!
